information controls fellowship 2023

The ICFP from the OTF supports research and collaboration on issues related to Internet censorship and surveillance by governments in countries of focus for the OTF. The information controls fellowship 2023 program aims to examine and address ways in which these governments are restricting access to information and the open Internet, and threatening basic human rights and democracy. It also encourages work on mitigating these threats.

The ICFP is designed to provide funding and resources to individuals, groups, and organizations working on understanding and addressing the ways in which governments are restricting access to information and the open internet, and implementing censorship mechanisms.

The program also aims to support research and collaboration on ways to mitigate these threats and promote freedom of expression and access to information.

The program encourages applications from a wide range of disciplines including but not limited to: computer science, law, political science, sociology, media studies, and human rights.

The ICFP is one of the ways in which the OTF is working to promote and protect internet freedom around the world and to ensure that citizens have access to the information and tools they need to exercise their basic human rights and participate in democratic processes.
