The International Renewable Energy Agency’s (IRENA) fourth IRENA Youth Forum: The New Generation of Decision Makers will convene on 13 January 2023 in Abu Dhabi, IRENA Assembly 13th session, United Arab Emirates.
Assemblies are the Agency’s supreme decision-making body where Heads of State/Government, Ministers, and global stakeholders discuss and advance energy transition efforts.
A major aim of the IRENA Youth Forum in 2023 is to strengthen the networks of youth and to connect them with global thought leaders, government representatives, and IRENA experts.
By participating in the Forum, young people will be able to participate in the Agency’s initiatives to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy for climate change mitigation and sustainable development.
A series of interactive sessions, including open dialogues and thematic workshops, will provide participants with a youth perspective on global energy issues.
The event strives for a global and balanced geographical representation of youth and highly encourages applications from youth in LDCs, SIDS, and developing countries.
For up to 35 participants, full sponsorship will be provided, including travel and accommodations.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the assembly 2023 Youth Forum Program, candidates must:
- Curriculum Vitae
- minimum age of 16 years can submit their application.
- Brief essay on a topic of particular interest to youth pertaining to renewable energy and sustainable development; this could also include a project the applicants have worked on or are working on at the moment (1000/1200 words)
- Transcripts/letters
